Cacao nib cookies
It is amazing what one can do with some time off. I managed to try out a whole lot of recipes with my new kitchen gadgets and also developed a new love for houseplants.

Do you like cookies? Well, I do. I have always loved cookies – especially butter cookies. My earliest memory of butter cookies were Danish Butter Cookies that were sold in a round blue tin. Just like this one here.
These were the bomb. As I grew up, my family started buying them less and less. I am not sure why but needless to say they have always been on my mind. My guess as to why my parents stopped buying them would be due to me and my gluttony of finishing half the tin on my own .

I often find people asking me “Do people in Sarawak still live in trees?”. Usually they are just teasing me but sometimes….you can just tell that they aren’t. Every year I go home, the number of new malls and developments are forever increasing. It is insane! But with that comes a wealth of choices. It would be entirely silly to mall hop when you are on holiday as some are just not worth wasting precious time on. Although if you consider shopping to be a sport (I do….) then by all means shop to your heart’s content. But if you are not into mall hopping, read on. I will tell you where are the best places to shop in Kuching and why.

I have been baking shortbread cookies almost every week since I discovered this simple recipe from Eugenie Kitchen. It is a fantastic recipe in its own right but I have tweaked it a little to suit me and my family’s taste.
The original recipe is great for those who prefer a more solid yet slightly crumbly type of shortbread. In our family, we prefer it to be more crumbly and with a slight melt-in-your-mouth texture.
